Premier Golda Meir will address the European Council in Strasbourg at the end of next month, it was announced today. She will discuss Israel’s stand in the Middle East, its relations with the European community and possible ways to solve the Mideast crisis.

The European Council will start its session on Sept. 25. Representatives of 17 European parliaments are members of the Council and Israel is the only non-European country represented permanently by two observers. Mrs. Meir was invited to speak by the Council’s chairman, Jeuseppe Vedovato of Italy who was in Israel two months ago. She will attend the session for three days.

Political circles here expressed satisfaction at the opportunity to present an official Israeli view on the current state of affairs in the Mideast. It is expected that Premier Meir will also present the Israeli view on the energy crisis and the Arab attempt to use it as a political pressure tool.
