Michael Arnon, who served for six years as Secretary of the Cabinet and government of Israel, arrived here today to take up his new duties as president and chief executive officer of the Israel Bond Organization. Prior to his departure from Israel to assume his new position, Arnon was honored at farewell receptions tendered by Israel’s President Ephraim Katzir, Premier Golda Meir and Speaker of the Knesset Yisrael Yeshayahu.

In his new post, Arnon, a former Israel Ambassador to Ghana and Consul General in New York, will be responsible for the administration of the worldwide operations of the Israel Bond Organization. As he assumed his new duties. Arnon emphasized. “An economically strong Israel is just as vital as a militarily strong Israel to help achieve a new era of peace in the region. In furthering the fullest development of its economy, Israel Bonds are performing a role of major importance in determining the course of Israel’s future.”

Arnon expressed confidence that American and Canadian Jewry would do their utmost in assuring the success of the new $1 billion Reconstruction and Development Issue of Israel Bonds. “At every crucial turn in the history of Israel,” he observed, “the people of Israel have been strengthened and heartened by the depth of understanding and the measure of financial support from the Jewish communities in the free world.”
