Labor Zionists Win 45.4% of Votes for Buenos Aires Kehilla Council

The Labor Zionists captured 45.4 percent of the votes for the 90 seats on the Buenos Aires Kehilla Council, Ten tickets competed in the election held Sunday in Buenos Aires and its suburbs. The Council names the executive board of the Kehilla. Agudath Israel was second with 8.2 percent of the vote; followed by Mizrachi, 8.1 percent; Fraie Shtime, a non-Zionist leftist group, 7.6 percent; Hanoar Hatzioni, 6.7 percent; Liberal Zionists, 6 percent; and a group affiliated with the World Confederation of United Zionists 5.7 percent. The remainder of the votes went to Herut, Mapam and Poalei Agudath Israel. Only 7833 of the some 40,000 eligible persons voted.
