More than 75,000 New York teenagers and adults are scheduled to march in a "Salute to Israel" Parade May 11 led by 13 teenagers from five Israeli towns subjected to terrorist attacks. The Israeli high school seniors are from the villages of Maalot, Safed, Beit Shean and Kiryat Shemona. All of the teenagers personally experienced the attacks on their hometowns. They will occupy the first of 40 floats, most of which were designed and constructed by New York City teenagers to symbolize their support of their Israeli counterparts and the theme of the parade, "Am Echad"–"one people."

Parade officials estimated that about 350,000 spectators will participate in the community-wide celebration, which marks the 27th anniversary of the State of Israel. The parade will hear an address by Teddy Kollek, mayor of Jerusalem. He will be joined by Mayor Abraham D. Beame and other dignitaries representing the New York City community.

Chairing the parade will be Robert H. Arnow, vice-president and secretary of the United Jewish Appeal of Greater New York; Herbert Tenzer, president, and Raymond M. Patt, member of the board, of the America-Israel Friendship League; and Edward Prince, president of the North American Jewish Youth Council. The Salute to Israel is sponsored by the American Zionist Youth Foundation.
