Sana Hassan, the Egyptian Journalist who spent several months in Israel, told a large audience at the Jewish Cultural Center here several days ago that the road to peace in the Middle East begins with ideological confrontation of the two sides. We must begin by talking, she said. “If you have an enemy, failing to confront his ideas with yours is not a realistic approach. We must not act like ostriches.” She applied this reasoning not only to the Arabs who pretend that Israel does not exist, but also to Israel concerning the Palestinians. Ms. Hassan is due to return to Israel where she plans to finish a book about her experience living in Israel. The book, she noted, will be her contribution to a peaceful solution.
