The National News Council announced today that a public hearing will be held July 9 on a complaint by the American Jewish Congress charging CBS News with inaccuracy and distortion in a segment of the “60 Minutes” program dealing with Syria’s relationship to Israel. The AJCongress charged that “Israel’s Toughest Enemy,” a program originally aired on Feb. 16, 1975 and re-broad-cast on June 8, 1975, misrepresented the status of Syrian Jews and the destruction of the city of Kuneitra.
