Three Arab terrorists were killed today after they entered Israeli territory near Kibbutz Hanita in the Upper Galilee. One Israeli soldier was injured. The terrorists were spotted at noon hiding near a stone wall after an Israeli patrol discovered signs that someone had crossed the border from Lebanon.
The terrorists fired a bazooka shell at the Israeli soldiers and in a fierce battle that ensued two terrorists were killed and the Israeli soldier was injured. The third terrorist escaped into a bushy area and after refusing to surrender he was killed in a gun battle with the Israeli troops. The terrorists all had Kalachnikoff rifles and Polish-made ammunition. Israel has been expecting terrorist actions to coincide with the arrival of Secretary of State Henry A. Kissinger due in Jerusalem tomorrow.
Soon after the clash near Kibbutz Hanita, Israeli planes attacked an Arab terrorist base in El-Ham, northeastern Lebanon, identified as a base of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine headed by George Habash. The three slain terrorists were identified as members of the Popular Front. All planes returned safely to base.
In another incident, a small bomb exploded in a paint can in a residential building in Jerusalem today but there were no injuries, police said.
