Dutch Foreign Minister Max van der Stoel revealed here today that he had personally instructed the Dutch delegation at the recently held Women’s Conference in Mexico to vote in favor of the general resolution which included a condemnation of Zionism. Holland was the only West European country which had voted in favor of the resolution. The Minister’s statement was interpreted by observers here as revealing a definite change in Holland’s attitude towards Israel and the Middle East conflict. Van der Stoel gave no explanation for the vote besides saying it furthered women’s emancipation and world cooperation. It was earlier thought the Foreign Ministry officials instructed the vote.
