Mrs. Charlotte Jacobson, chairman of the World Zionist Organization-American Section, said yesterday there had been insufficient improvement in the social absorption of American olim to Israel. Addressing the WZO Executive, she said aliya groups in the U.S. were stepping up their activities; one hundred such groups were meeting regularly to study Hebrew–and to study problems of aliya and absorption.

Aliya department head Rabbi Mordechai Kirschblum said 2546 American Jews had made aliya so far this year. Mrs. Faye Schenk president of the American Zionist Federation, said the Zionist movement itself was the most effective vehicle for encouragement of aliya. She is working with aliya department director general Uzi Narkiss on a plan for improving the efficacy of aliya shlichim to the various American communities.
