The South African Consulate-General in Israel is to become a full Embassy shortly–thus levelling the rank of the two countries’ representations in each other’s country. Two years ago, Israel upped the lever of its Consulate in South Africa to full Embassy (the present Ambassador is Yitzhak Unna) and the South African move was expected to follow in due course. The South African Consul-General in Tel Aviv. Charles Fincham, will be appointed Ambassador, it is understood.
