Three Jewish Groups Resume Travel Programs to Mexico

The American Jewish Congress, the Union of American Hebrew Congregations and the National Council of Jewish Women today announced that they will resume travel programs to Mexico, effective at once, in response to Mexico’s newly clarified position on Zionism. The three organizations made the following statement:

“We note the recent finding by a subcommittee of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations that since the vote on the original UN resolution (equating Zionism with racism) there has been a ‘decided reversal’ in Mexico’s attitude toward Zionism. We note further the refusal of the Mexican government in recent weeks to support comparable resolutions in other international forums which also impliedly condemn Zionism. In the light of these factors, our organizations have determined that effective at once we are resuming our travel programs to Mexico.”
