A warm tribute to American Jewry was paid here today by Greville Janner, Labor MP, and vice-president of the Board of Deputies of British Jews.

Janner, who returned from a three-week speaking tour of the United States, told the JTA that American Jews are, almost without exception, devoted to Israel. Recognition of the strength of Jewish solidarity for Israel has brought vivid and welcome assurances from both Presidential candidates and their advisory teams, he said.

Noting that Jewish organizations do not endorse candidates, Janner added that their members would closely watch the candidates’ references to Jewish issues and expected the successful contenders to honor their pledges.

In the U.S. Janner met Ivor Richard and Chaim Herzog, the British and Israeli Ambassadors to the UN. He and Mrs. Janner, together with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Worms, leaders of the British B’nai B’rith, were guests of honor at a meeting of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, addressed by Simcha Dinitz, Israel’s Ambassador in Washington.
