The forthcoming World Zionist Congress will be asked to approve a project aimed at strengthening Zionist sentiments among young Israelis as well as among Jewish youths from abroad. The plan, drafted by Aryeh Zimouki, chairman of the Zionist Council in Israel, calls among other things for the establishment of student communes on all Israeli campuses which would be dedicated to Zionist activities by both Israeli and foreign students.
Another facet of the program is to involve Israeli high school students and youth movement members in Zionism. Zimouki said that a mini-Zionist Congress to be attended by delegates from Israel’s secondary schools would precede the World Zionist Congress due to open in Jerusalem next January. Zimouki also wants to establish a settlement in Galilee for Israeli and foreign students to combine farming with Zionist education and to hold Zionist seminars for youth from abroad.
