A special nine-week study program for African clerics and church leaders is presently being conducted in Jerusalem. The seminar, organized by the Israel Interfaith Committee and co-sponsored by the Martin Buber Center of the Hebrew University and the Foreign Minister’s Department for International Cooperation, allows the participants to study the Bible in its geographical, archeological, linguistic and historical context. Simultaneously, it introduces them to the social and historical problems of contemporary Judaism and Israel, with respect to Christian-Jewish relations. The French-language seminar includes 20 participants from seven countries and various churches and denominations.
