The International Amateur Athletic Federation foresees no difficulties for Israeli athletes at the Moscow Olympics next year. The Soviet Union had given assurances that all Asian group states, including Israel, would be allowed to participate, the Federation told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency today.
Earlier, the Federation placed a four-month ban on international competitions in 21 countries who took part in last month’s Asian Games in Bangkok, from which Israel had been excluded. It also banned their athletes from participating in other international competitions until April 14. The countries who had taken part in the Bangkok Games had committed a “deliberate breach” of the rules of the Federation which had refused to authorize the games because of the ban on Israel.
