The International Labor Organization (ILO) annual conference’s agenda committee has decided to give priority to a resolution by Jordan condemning Israel for its settlements policy and calling for a boycott against Israel.
During the debate, Israeli Ambassador Yoel Banomi said “What is at stake here is more than the question of another anti-Israel resolution. It is the credibility and reputation of the ILO. It is its capacity to make a stand against selective morality, political manipulation and intimidation. It is the respect for law and decency. This spirit of equity and faithfulness to principles and rules has been in the past the source of the ILO’s vitality and endurance. It should prove once more strong and resilient enough to have the Jordanian resolution rejected.”
The Libyan delegate was particularly violent. He attacked Egypt viciously, was called to order by the President and finally the President of the session cut him short following an uproar in the Assembly.
The Libyan ranted against the “imperialistic plan” to try and erase the Palestinian question from the international scene. He accused Sweden, Senegal, Egypt, Morocco, Italy, France, England, Holland, India, South Korea, Greece, Spain and Portugal of torturing workers in those countries.
