Their meeting followed a wave of press speculation that the move is imminent, which has drawn sharply negative reactions from abroad.
The timing of the press reports was seen here as especially awkward in view of the ongoing Security Council debate this week on Jerusalem. There is now speculation here — unconfirmed by official sources — that the U.S. indicated to Israel it would not veto a hostile resolution on Jerusalem unless any plans for the imminent transfer of the Embassy were shelved.
