Zamilco International Inc., of Albertson, L.I., N.Y. has agreed to pay fines of $32,000 for allegedly supplying business and religious information in furtherance of the Arab League boycott of Israel, the U.S. Department of Commerce announced yesterday.
Zamilco, described by the Department as an export trading company serving as middleman for Arab clients, informed Bahrain in response to its questionnaire in 1978 that “the principals of this organization are all Moslems. They have never had any interests in the country of Israel and the same policy will apply as long as this company exists.”
The civil penalty to which Zamilco has agreed to comply includes a maximum fine of $10,000 for allegedly supplying information about the religious background of its employes. This is the first alleged violation of the prohibition against furnishing religious information under the U.S. Export Administration Act.
