At the concluding dinner on Oct. 26 of a seven-day visit to Egypt and Israel, the 40 participants in the first Jewish National Fund Nation Builder Mission to Israel, headed by Jerome Cardin of Baltimore, committed themselves to a total of $650,000 for vast land reclamation projects of the JNF now, well under way in the northern and southern sectors of Israel.

Members of the mission participated in an intensive week-long series of seminars and briefings by top JNF officials who met them at various locations in both the Galilee and the Negev. While touring the Galilee, they inspected some of the new mitzpim (presettlement observation posts) which form a land base for Jewish settlers in strategic areas of the northern region.
