Histadrut Holding Elections

The 1.5 million members of Histadrut will go to the polls tomorrow to elect the organization’s central bodies for the next four years. They will begin to cast their ballots for one of the II lists competing in the election at 7 am at 3,613 polling booths which close at 11 pm. The results will begin to become known shortly afterwards on the basis of representative polling stations chosen by statisticians.

Although the Histadrut membership represents some 70 percent of the adult population, no exact comparison can be made between the Histadrut elections and the Knesset elections June 30. But the results will be analyzed closely because the election results will, in effect, represent the widest possible public opinion poll indicating trends in the Knesset election.
