Israel’s air traffic controllers have decided not to withhold services from El Al and other airliners leaving for the United States. American air traffic controllers now on strike have appealed to their colleagues throughout the world not to handle any aircraft bound for the U.S.
But the Israelis decided yesterday to await the outcome of a meeting of international air traffic controllers due to take place soon to discuss a united stand on the American controllers’ appeal. El Al pilots are, however, being warned to pay special attention to any security problems which might arise in view of the staffing of American control towers by military personnel instead of the usual civilian controllers.
