A military spokesman reported that two Israeli army officers were killed in south Lebanon today when their vehicle struck a land mine on the Beirut-Damascus highway near the town of Kahhale. Israeli forces were searching the area, the spokesman said. Reports from Beirut earlier today said an Israeli vehicle was destroyed in the same area by a rocket-propelled grenade but did not mention casualties.
