Two Israeli soldiers were wounded by a roadside explosion near Sidon in south Lebanon tody, bringing to five the number of Israel Defense Force personnel wounded in Lebanon over the weekend.
Three other soldiers were wounded in the eastern sector of the front Friday. An IDF spokesman reported that eight Israeli soldiers have been wounded in recent days by land mines planted by terrorists in south Lebanon.
An Arab was fatally shot in south Lebanon Thursday when an Israeli patrol opened fire on his speeding car south of the Zaharani River. The driver had ignored orders to halt. A large store of explosives and weapons was found in the car, the IDF said.
ISRAELIS SHELL PLO HEADQUARTERS
Israeli artillery shelled Palestine Liberation Organization headquaters in the Syrian-controlled northern Beka Valley in eastern Lebanon today after two Katyusha rockets were fired from south Lebanon toward Israel. The rockets, aimed at the Galilee panhandle, both fell near the Lebanese village of Adeisa, about a kilometer from the Israeli border town of Misgav Am. One of the rockets exploded. The other failed to detonate.
An IDF spokesman said the targets of today’s shelling were two local headquarters of the PLO set up under the shelter of the Syrian army. They were said to be bases where PLO fighters were trained for attacks on the IDF in Lebanon.
