Bloom, retired Air Force lieutenant colonel, former president of the American Jewish Press Association (AJPA) and editor emeritus of the Pittsburgh (Pa.) Jewish Chronicle, was assigned by JWB to tour Western Europe’s defenses to search out and to tell this story.
