Natan Shcharansky will visit Holland on September 29 and 30 at the invitation of the Dutch Solidarity Committee with Soviet Jewry and the Dutch Jewish community, it was announced by the chairman of the Solidarity Committee, Rabbi Avraham Soetendorp of The Hague.
Shcharansky is visiting Holland to express his gratitude to all those who were instrumental in securing his release from prison in the Soviet Union earlier this year, Soetendorp said. He said that Shcharansky would also discuss new ideas he has for launching an initiative to help Jews emigrate from the Soviet Union. While here, the former Prisoner of Conscience will meet with Dutch parliamentarians, and will address the annual Solidarity with Soviet Jewry meeting in Amsterdam.
