Jewish settlers in the Gaza Strip have been given dispensation by two local rabbis to operate jeep patrols on the Sabbath and holidays to prevent the “seizure of land by Arab residents,” Haaretz reported Thursday. The rabbis, identified as Yaakov Ariel and Yigael Kaminsky, responded to complaints by the settlers that Arabs were taking over state-owned land in the district on the Sabbath and holidays.
