Israel and Jordan are due to open embassies on Dec. 10, Israel Radio reported. A Foreign Ministry delegation was in Amman this week to discuss economic issues and look for an appropriate site for the embassy.

The Itim news agency reported that Foreign Ministry officials would meet at the beginning of next month to appoint Israel’s first ambassador to Jordan. The nominee has been the subject of much speculation in Israel.

Meanwhile, one of the economic projects the Israeli team was discussing is the proposed “Peace valley” in the Dead Sea area, which will include hotels and resorts.

The first round of transportation talks between Israel and Jordan concluded on Thursday in Eilat. The two sides are to complete arrangements to allow vehicles to cross between the two countries. Negotiations are to resume next weeks in Aqaba.
