Israeli official are investigating the theft of seven anti-tank missiles from an army base in the Jordan Valley.

Security sources said the theft of the Dragon missiles was discovered by soldiers who found a break in the fence surrounding the base.

It remained unclear whether the theft was carried out by Palestinians or Israelis.

Sources in the military said such thefts are a recurring problem that the Israel Defense Force has yet to overcome.

In the past two years, there have been eight incidents in which weapons were stolen from Israeli army bases.

“The theft of weapons from IDF bases is a grave matter,” the Ha’aretz daily quoted an army source as saying. “The IDF has not yet succeeded in dealing with it.”
