Histadrut to Visit Hashemite Kingdom

The Histadrut, the major umbrella organization of Israeli trade unions, will send a delegation of 80 workers in last January on a three-day trip to Jordan.

The trip is to include one day of meetings with Jordanian officials and two days of touring, Army Radio reported.

The delegation may meet with King Hussein.

Histadrut officials said the trip was needed to develop contacts with the Jordanians.

The trade federation is covering half the expenses – about $16,000 – of the trip.

On Tuesday, Yigal Amir was moved to a heavily guarded isolation cell at a prison in the Negev until the end of his trial.

A prison official said Amir was separated from other detainess to protect his life, adding that prison guards would taste his food before he ate to prevent him from being poisoned.
