Mickey Berkowitz, Israel’s basketball legend, was to hang up his jersey Thursday night, after a final exhibition game with Maccabi Tel Aviv.
The Tel Aviv team was scheduled to play against a European all-star team.
Berkowitz, 44, known locally as “Mr. Basketball,” was on the Maccabi Tel Aviv team that won the 1977 European Cup championship game.
