The Bezek phone company has reported record profits for 1995, which was attributed to the boom in cellular phones.
Bezek profits last year totaled about $183 million.
The company is getting ready to face competition in 1997, when the Communications Ministry will decide which two providers will be able to offer long-distance service in Israel in addition to Bezek.
Among the companies being considered are: BellSouth BellAtlantic, Southwestern Bell, British Telcom, MCI and Sprint.
