Norwegian Foreign Minister Bjorn Tore Godal is warning of bloodshed if the Israeli-Palestinian negotiations were not resumed soon.
Godal, whose country was closely involved in forging the Israeli-Palestinian peace agreements, often referred to as the Oslo accords, made the comment Monday in Cairo after conferring with Egyptian officials.
His visit to the Middle East, which also includes stops in Lebanon, Syria and Jordan, was prompted by Norwegian concern over the stalemated Israeli- Palestinian peace talks.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Amre Moussa, speaking prior to Godal’s arrival in Cairo, said the entire peace process would collapse if Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not adhere to the principle of giving up territory in exchange for peace.
