BRUSSELS, Nov. 18 (JTA) – Young rioters have damaged an Orthodox synagogue and injured one person in Brussels. The rioters tried to set fire to the synagogue’s wooden door and threw stones at the building, breaking several windows, according to authorities. The attack occurred last week after clashes between protesters, mainly Moroccan immigrants, and police. The son of the synagogue’s doorkeeper was injured when he attempted to calm the crowd. The rabbi of the synagogue, which is located in an area of the city largely populated by North African immigrants, has lodged a complaint with the authorities.
