A U.S. group for Jewish educators is urging its members to become activists on issues such as teachers’salaries and the shortage of trained professionals in the field. “For a long time, Jewish educators have allowed other people to call the shots for their field,” said Eliot Spack, the executive director of the Coalition for the Advancement for Jewish Education, at the group’s 24th annual conference this week in Columbus, Ohio. “We want them to raise their voices and concerns.”
