Israeli flower firm claims Valentine’s victory

An Israeli flower exporter said demonstrations by British activists didn’t mar business on one of the busiest days of the year. British activists from Boycott Israeli Goods protested over the weekend, some chaining themselves to the fence of the U.K. headquarters of Carmel-Agrexco, to prevent its flowers from being distributed, The Jerusalem Post reported. Amos Orr, general manager of Carmel-Agrexco UK, told the Post on Wednesday that there were no disruptions in delivery. “Firstly they came on the quietest day of the week, secondly we knew in advance that they were coming, they had advertised it over two months ago on various Web sites, so we simply arranged for deliveries to be sent out in the morning,” he said. Orr added that Sunday’s protest was rather paltry. “Around 15 activists came, there was no activity, the police came and arrested a few, and it was all over within an hour and a half,” he said. The activists called their actions a success.
