Hadassah condemns boycott doctors

Hadassah condemned a call by 125 British doctors to expel an Israeli group from the World Medical Association. In a letter to the Guardian last week, the doctors claimed Israel’s occupation of land the Palestinians claim has resulted in “persistent violations of medical ethics” and blamed Israel for destroying “any coherence” in the Palestinian health system. Hadassah National President June Walker called the move “yet another attempt to politicize a medical-advocacy organization” and urged the association to “stand strong” against the group’s accusations. “It is unconscionable that this tiny group of physicians – far from the scene and relying only on hearsay – would accuse their Israeli colleagues of not upholding medical practices and principles,” Walker said. “Israeli hospitals do not differentiate between Israelis and Palestinians in the care they provide.”
