Brit Tzedek to lobby during Olmert visit

A dovish pro-Israel group will lobby Congress next week during the meeting between President Bush and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. Brit Tzedek v’Shalom – Jewish Alliance for Justice and Peace is bringing 150 activists to lobby 75 offices on Capitol Hill June 19. The day of lobbying will conclude Brit Tzedek’s third annual National Advocacy Days program. The lobbying day will be preceded by briefings from Hill insiders and activists, followed by a congressional reception where Reps. Lois Capps (D-Calif.), Susan Davis (D-Calif.) and David Price (D-N.C.) will speak, according to a press release. On June 17, activists will participate in the National Leadership Training Institute, an all-day seminar on effective grassroots organizing and legislative advocacy. Among the activities will be a panel discussion titled “The call for a Diplomatic ‘Surge’: New Developments in Arab-Israeli Peacemaking and the Role of the U.S.”
