Moshe Katsav’s plea bargain on sexual misconduct is being delayed by a court injunction.

Israel’s Supreme Court issued an injunction Wednesday on the controversial plea bargain that absolved Israel’s former president of rape charges. The attorney for the woman who charged that Katsav raped her, known as “A,” petitioned the court after Israel’s attorney general, Menachem Mazuz, dropped all charges connected with her case against the former president.

According to Israeli law, the attorney general has 21 days to explain to the court why he dropped those charges against Katsav.

Supreme Court President Dorit Beinisch has questioned Mazuz’s decision not to charge Katsav with abuse of power, given that the mere existence of a sexual relationship between Katsav and “A” at the time when she was an employee in the official President’s Residence points to such abuse.
