Israeli forces killed two Palestinian gunmen in a raid on the southern Gaza Strip.

Troops backed by helicopter gunships struck east of Khan Younis early Thursday in what military sources described as a search for terrorists responsible for cross-border rocket salvos.

Two local gunmen were killed in the ensuing clashes. They could not immediately be identified, since Palestinian medics were keeping away from the combat zone. There were no Israeli casualties.

Overnight, Israel’s Air Force bombed two cars carrying senior members of the Popular Resistance Committees, a Gazan terrorist group. In both cases, the occupants escaped serious injury.
