Reform outraged at attack on Obama

The Reform movement voiced outrage at a U.S. congressman who said Muslim radicals would celebrate Barack Obama’s election.

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) recently said that radical Islamists and terrorist groups would “be dancing in the streets” at the election of the Democratic senator from Illinois.

King also cited Obama’s middle name, Hussein; Obama’s policy advocating the reduction of the U.S. troop presence in Iraq; and Obama’s nominally Muslim father, though Obama is a Christian.

“They’ll be dancing in the streets because of who his father was and because of his posture that says, ‘Pull out of the Middle East. Pull out of this conflict,'” King said.

In a statement, Reform’s Religious Action Center said it was “outraged” at King’s “profoundly offensive comments.”

“What is offensive about Rep. King’s statement is that it centers on who Senator Obama is,” the statement said.
