Eizenstat Jewish studies seat named at UNC

The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill named a seat in Jewish studies for Stuart Eizenstat.

Eizenstat, an alumnus of the university, was a Clinton administration deputy secretary of the treasury and the lead negotiator in Holocaust reparations.

The $1.5 million professorship will be in the in the Carolina Center for Jewish Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences, the Raleigh News and Observer reported Tuesday.

David Rubenstein, a cofounder of the Washington-based Carlyle Group international consulting firm, pledged $500,000 toward the seat.
