Two Kassam rockets fired from the Gaza Strip hit Israel in another violation of the shaky truce between Israel and Hamas.
The rockets fired Monday evening landed in an empty area of the western Negev after causing the Sderot and Sha’ar Hanegev regional council’s early warning “Color Red” sirens to sound. No one was injured.
It was the fourth attack on Israel since the truce went into effect June 19.
Israel closed border crossings into Gaza last week after violations of the Egyptian-brokered truce, but opened them Sunday to allow in food and other goods after Hamas said it would crack down on radical organizations launching the rockets.
No group took responsibility for Monday’s bombing. Islamic Jihad and the Al-Aksa Martyrs’ Brigade affiliated with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah party claimed responsibility for previous violations of the truce.
