Israel targets Hamas assets in West Bank

Israeli forces shut down Hamas assets in a key West Bank city.

Troops raided Nablus early Monday and ordered the closure of a school, clinic and mosque linked to the radical Islamist Palestinian group.

The closures are to be in force for three years.

The operation appeared to be part of what Ha’aretz described as a new campaign by Israel to undermine Hamas’ hold in the West Bank, where Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas is trying to impose control after losing Gaza to the Islamists last year.
