The first post-election Jewish leadership conference will include an award for a renowned constitutional law professor.
Laurence Tribe will receive the Albert D. Chernin Award at the Jewish Council for Public Affairs’ Plenum from Feb. 28-March 3 in Washington, D.C. Tribe is a professor at Harvard Law School and was the founder of the American Constitution Society, and has argued more than 30 cases before the Supreme Court. Tribe was long considered a possible Supreme Court nominee by a Democratic administration.
The Chernin Award is presented to an "American Jew whose work best exemplifies the social justice imperatives of Judaism, Jewish history and the protection of the Bill of Rights, particularly the First Amendment."
