Barack Obama’s reported pick of former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle as Secretary of Health and Human Services is a good one, says the United Jewish Communities.

"Senator Daschle is a close friend of the Jewish federation system, and during his tenure in the Senate was a champion of our domestic agenda. Thousands of vulnerable Americans who rely upon Jewish federation system agencies are dependent upon the policies of HHS and we are confident that Tom Daschle will be a great guardian of their well-being."
