(JTA) — Two rockets launched from the Gaza Strip hit open space in Israel a week before a truce is set to expire.
The Kassam rockets launched Friday landed in open areas and caused no damage, reports said.
A temporary truce brokered earlier this year by Egypt between Israel and the Hamas terrorist group controlling Gaza is set to lapse next Friday.
The truce held for several months, but in recent weeks, rocket attacks have resumed and Israel has reinforced its blockade of Gaza.
Israeli officials are considering whether to use the end of the truce to launch a military operation aimed at stopping the rocket fire.
