One of the newest Jewish members of Congress helped his Jewish colleagues celebrate Purim this week. Rep. John Adler (D-N.J.) delivered homemade hamentashen to the 30 other Jewish members of the House of Representatives Adler, his wife, Shelley, and four sons baked the hamentashen at their home in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.

“With tensions high in Congress due to the economic crisis, Shelley and I wanted to wish everyone a Happy Purim,” said Adler, a member of Temple Emanuel in Cherry Hill.  “Purim is one of my favorite Jewish festivals, and I was delighted to deliver hamentashen to my friends in Congress.” Pictured below is Adler with Rep. Allyson Schwartz (D-Pa.)
