WASHINGTON (JTA) — President Obama discussed resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict with Jordanian King Abdullah II.
In a phone conversation Wednesday, the two leaders talked about "the current situation in the Middle East, particularly efforts to launch effective and serious negotiations to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on the basis of a two-state solution," according to a statement from the Jordanian Embassy in Washington.
The statement added that Abdullah noted the importance of "American support of negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians," and stressed that the Obama administration must provide a "clear vision that outlines concrete steps towards the establishment of an indpendent and viable Palestinian state."
Obama also invited the Jordanian king to visit Washington.
