JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israeli lawmakers from left-wing parties visited illegal Jewish settlement outposts in the West Bank.

Current and former Knesset members from the Labor and Meretz parties and Peace Now activists visited the outposts on Tuesday on a tour organized to protest the possible legalization of some of the outposts, Ynet reported.

Labor lawmaker Daniel Ben-Simon called the outposts a "disgrace" during the tour, according to reports, adding, "If 23 outposts are not removed by the end of the Knesset’s summer recess, we will reconsider our path in the coalition."  The new Knesset session opens in two months.

Defense Minister and Labor Party chief Ehud Barak agreed to evacuate 23 unauthorized outposts several months ago after the Cabinet authorized the move.
