JERUSALEM (JTA) — Rabbi Shimon Natan Neta Biderman, rebbe of the Lelov Chasidim, died on Yom Kippur.
Biderman, who lived in the city of Bnei Brak in central Israel, was 78.
He had retired early from Yom Kippur services on Sunday night after saying he did not feel well, Arutz Sheva reported.
Biderman recited the Shema before falling unconscious in his bed, according to reports. He was transported by paramedics to a hospital in Petach Tikvah and died a short time later.
The Lelov dynasty has spanned more than two centuries. It originated in Poland and migrated to Jerusalem in the mid-1800s.
